CHARLES A. BENNETT, ex-judge of the common pleas court of Monmouth County, senior member of the bar, is a son of WILLIAM H. BENNETT & JANE (LEFFERTSON), was born 4 June 1820 in Freehold.
He received elementary education in public schools, Princeton College and grad. in 1844,
Masters at Princeton, and studied law with Judge Bennington F. Randolph at Freehold, was admitted to the bar 1847, had his own office, then became acting Surrogate of Monmouth County.
In 1882 he was appointed Judge of Common Pleas of Monmouth Cty-served 10 years. He then resumed and
continues his practice in Freehold.
From 1848- 1874 was Clerk of Freehold Township....

He was married 28 Sept 1854 to ELEANOR B CLAYTON, daughter of ELIAS C. and LOUISA M. CLAYTON,former merchant and farmer of Millstone, NJ.
