Hi, Thanks for responding to my query about the Johnstons of Monmouth Co, NJ.
I don't know if there could be a connection of my family of Johnstons to your family. I found information on the FamilySearch web site, IGI, that seemed to connect John and James Johnston to the Scott and Carhart families in the 1700s in Monmouth Co, NJ.
My James Johnston,b. abt 1740, as well as Joseph Scott and Seth Carhart all lived in Monongalia Co, WV 1780s and in Muskingum/Coshocton Co Ohio 1796-1820s.
I did find a record abt 1850 in Coshocton Co, OH of a James Johnston and wife Jane who had been born in NJ. Also a John or James Insley Johnston. Could either be your family? Thanks for responding. Lillian
