I blieve there may be a good chance that your Emma Howland is the daughter of Hubbard Howland, born 1822, Eatontown, Monmouth County, NJ, d. 1910. He married ca 1854 to Anna Marie Herbert who died 21 Nov 1883 Their first child was an Emma Howland who I have not traced further, but appears at the right time at about the right place.

This is secondary information from someone who was working a Wolcott line who spent a great deal of time in the obits in NY, so I have no primary information. His research has proved out very nicely on other lines I have documented.

Hubbard Howland mother's name was Elizabeth Wolcott, b. 1789 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, NJ. She married Thomas Howland, b. ca 1790 and died 22 Dec 1814 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, NJ.

Thomas was the son of Michael Howland and Hannah (?), who was the son of George Howland and Suzannah Cook. This is in the wills in Trenton, NJ. George is the son of James Howland and Deborah Cook, James the son of Nathaniel, son of Zoeth, son of Henry, son of Henry.

Your Emma being the right Emma is speculation on my part, but based on an educated guess. Good luck, Roger
