I am trying to find out the ancestry of Patience Johnson of Middletown NJ who married John Chadwick III of Shrewsbury, NJ (1739-1803) on 7 Nov 1763.
Their marriage bond states:
"John CHADWICK of Shrewsbury in the County of Monmouth, and Robert JOHNSTON of Mideltown* in the same county... [bound to]... William FRANKLIN, Governor... 500 pounds... 7 Nov 1763. ... John CHADWICK... obtained license of marriage for himself and for Patience JOHNSON of Mideltown... [w] Sam LEONARD."
I am not sure how or if Robert Johnston mentioned here is related to her (father? brother?)
John and Patience Chadwick had 5 sons (John, Thomas, William, Francis, Samuel) and five daughters (Sarah, Elizabeth, Margaret, Clarissa (b. 1790), and an unknown daughter that died in infancy.
Any help on the ancestry of Patience Johnson of Middletown, would be greatly appreciated.
