Yvonne, I don't have answers to your questions. It appears to me that your Emma Lewis Waring is listed in the 1880 census, abstracted below (from the LDS website). In 1880, Emma appears to be the widow of Daniel Schenck Conover.

1880 U.S. federal census, Atlantic, Monmouth Co., NJ, p. 12D:
Emma L. Conover, head, b. 1830 NJ, age 50, keeping house, widowed, parents b. NJ
William H. Bennett, son, b. 1858 NJ, age 22, farmer, married, parents b. NJ
Annie E. Bennett, dau.-in-law, b. 1856 NJ, age 24, married, parents b. NJ
James P. Bennett, son, b. 1862 NJ, age 18, laborer on farm, single, parents b. NJ
Mamie L. Conover, dau., b. 1861 NJ, age 19, at home, single, parents b. NJ
A. P. Waring, brother, b. 1823 NJ, age 57, laborer, widowed, parents b. NJ

My interest in the above family is focused on William H. Bennett's wife, Annie E. Bennett. Her maiden name was BRAY; she was the dau. of Daniel Bray and his 2nd wife Mary Jane Schenck who married 31 JAN 1853 in Monmouth Co., NJ. Anna / Annie is a distant cousin of mine.

Do you know the identity of Mamie L. Conover, born 1861, reported to be dau. of Emma L. Conover in the above 1880 census?

Mary Foster Ludvigsen
