Bob, I have studied the ancestry of Colonel Francis Barber. Fortunately, due to his fame, there has been a lot of work on the line. He is from a different line than I but very interesting none the less. I remember a couple of other questions I have about the name Barber: I have seen references to an area called "Barber's Quarter" in Perth Amboy, and also there is a "Barber's Point" somewhere along the coast in that area.
Do you have any idea how those places got these names?

I also have a question about Ash Swamp. Were our ancestors really living in a swamp? It does not sound like a desirable place to live.

What lines are you related to in the area; I can keep a look out for them. Fred
