From what I have researched. the name Gulick and Hulick were interchanged in America. In the English Presbyterian Church of Rotterdam Holland I found a Joecham Hulick and Nela Lake both Netherland Dutch the parents of Alcha (Alice)
Hulick born 1743 in Rotterdam. Alcha married a Samuel Grove/s in NJ, Middlesex, South Brunswick. Samuel Grove was the 2nd son of a Samuel Grove and Mary Cornelia Spencer of Hereford, Yorkshire England. Mary Cornelia's parents were from Leeds, Yorkshire, England. Her father William Spencer and mother Katherin Goodrick (she of Scotch descent). At what time and year these Grove-Spencer families went from England to Nethelands is unknown. Many people fled to Holland for refuge during the wars and upheavals. I don't know if any of the Spencer family immigrated along with Samuel Grove and Alcha Hulick to New Jersey or not. I feel like the Hulick and Gulick families in and around Middlesex County are definately related.
