I am trying to trace my elusive ancestors and I run into a dead end in New Jersey. My Ancestor fought with the New Jersey Volunteers during the American Revolution, then they went to Nova Scotia, then to New Brunswick, then to ontario. Now according to the location that they joined the NJV he was in Hunterdon County. I have come across an old place name of Stover's Mills which was located in Readington Township in Hunterdon County, but it does not exist today. To add to the confusion, my family line does not appear to fit in with any other stover/stauffer family in North America. I am hoping that someone out there may have a clue or a possible lead for myself to check on. I have tried to find copies of the Census done in 1760 and later, but to no avail. Any and all information is greatly appreciated since this amateur genealogist has hit a brick wall. Thanks.
