Research in Bergen County 1700's I am planning a trip there...

Hi,
i am new to research in Bergen County, NJ and NJ in general.
Does any one have advice on where I should focus my time and effort?
I believe my family served in the American Revolution and is from that area. Lewis Shurte...which of course has a ton of spelling variation for both the surname and the given name. Sigh.
Are there State Archives located somewhere?
Does the county court house have archives?
Where would I find land records?

Thank you,
Pamela
