"Captn Joseph Griffiths of the navy [donated] 5.5s." to building a meeting house for Baptists in 1764 in Caerleon (Monmouthshire, Wales) according to chapel records.

Another 1764 donor was John Griffiths of Caerleon (1722-1791) and after 1777 of Penwenallt Cards. bd. Llandygwyd who gave ten pounds. His fa.= John Griffiths of Pontypool who went to Pennsylvania 1759 then produced tinplate in New Jersey and finally became a judge in New York. That John Griffiths (170?-1774)d. & bd. in Kingsbury New York, 1774. JOhn Griffiths (1722-1791) was said to have met his wife Sarah Evans in New Jersey or Pennsylvania which is why he returned to the farm in Wales in 1777.

I would love to know more of Captn. Joseph Griffiths of the navy and what, if any, was the connection with the others. Please help
