Mary McAleer was living in the home of her daughter Mary Ellen Haslett in 1920 she was 87 years old at the time she did not read or write much of the information on Mary reported on documents varies from document to document and this is most likely 1) because of her severe irish accent and 2) the fact that she could not tell if the information had been written correctly and 3) her very advanced age
Pat provided very well for his family if you look on the 1970 census you will see that there was a servant living in the home to assist MaryPat continued to provide well for his family his entire life He could read and write as could all of his children several of his grand daughters went on to become teachersPat's only son John my great grandfather worked for the Railroad like Pat and also like Pat he rose quickly in the company to higher, more responsible and better paid positions. John provided for his wife and my grandmother and gave them a fairly lavish lifestyle my grandmother had piano lessons from childhood and had aspired to become a concert pianistJohn had a second daughter 17 years after the birth of my grandmother and he passed away as a result of a surgery only 2 years after that birth my grandmother had to give up her dreams and support her mother and baby sisterlife happens
but yes thank you for posting the census details on the family going forward and the find a grave sites you posted as well as the pictures and information on the findagrave sites are mine
