I have seen a discussion about the Loyalist William Dunmead on the Nunn family pages. I read that William Dunmead was stepfather to the Loyalist Thomas Nunn and they moved moved to Upper Canada/Ontario from New Brunswick. I believe I am a descendant of a William Dunmead and would be interested in learning more information about him -- specifically where he came from in New Jersey, how long he served with the New Jersey Volunteers, where he settled in New Brunswick, and when and why he left New Brunswick for Upper Canada/Ontario? My information indicates that William Dunmead received a land grant near Drumbo, Ont., and that his son-in-law Thomas Hollywood assisted him with the application. I believe that William Dunmead's daughter, Sarah, married Thomas Hollywood, 1765-1863, who had served with the King's American Regiment (New York), during the Revolutionary War. I believe they married after the Revolutionary War in New Brunswick -- sometime between 1783 and 1800. My records suggest Sarah was born in New Brunswick. Sarah and Thomas Hollywood migrated to Upper Canada/Ontario -- perhaps about 1812 -- to the Vienna/Port Burwell district of Bayham Township in Elgin Co. I believe they had a son named Samuel S. Hollywood who was a captain of a ship on Lake Erie. He married Elizabeth Pritchard (born in England) and they had four or five children, one being Sarah Hollywood (b about 1856 in Port Burwell and d about 1927 in Stoughton, Sask., Canada). Sarah homesteaded in Saskatchewan and in Alberta with her husband, Charles Edgar Nellis/es (b abt 1856 in Vienna, Ont., and d abt 1917 at Stoughton, Sask.), and their children, Blanche, Walter and Edith. I would appreciate any direction regarding the Dunmead connection. Thank you. Colleen Notify Administrator about this message?
