Frederick Daniel Driscoll-New York or New Jersey

My husband's great grandfather is Frederick Daniel Driscoll. His wife is Katherine and they had four girls and one boy - Morris (who called himself Dan), Katherine, Edna, Anne and Geraldine. I know they lived in Brooklyn early on, but could have been born in New Jersey. I've had difficulty finding them on the census I have reviewed through the library. Have found wonderful information on his time as one of Edison's patent attorneys, but would like to dig deeper. There somehow is a connection to the Flatiron Building in NYC, but I have not found it--does this sound familiar to anyone out there.
Your help is certainly appreciated.
