I'd say Peter & Jacob are brothers & that Lewis is the son of Jacob. Peter also has a son Lewis, born around 1854.
The 1895 census shows that Jacob & Peter are both over 60 years old & that Lewis H. is 20 to 60 years old.
The 1900 census shows that Peter, 69, was born April 1831 in Germany & has been in the U.S. for 50 years. Jacob, 68, was born October 1831 in Germany & has also been here for 50 years. Lewis H., 35, born August 1864 in New Jersey, parents in Germany. Lewis is the next visit from Peter & family & Jacob & family is the next visit.
