I am the GG Granddaughter of Sarah Margerum who was the daugher of Stephen Margerum and Mary Webster. Stephen was the brother of Jackson and son of Mercy Maria Scales and Enos Margerum. I have several letters that were sent to my Mother from Alice Margerum, dated June 2, 1981 and July 23, 1981. These letters include information about this family line. Alice does not mention that Maria married twice AFTER the death of Enos, however, another cousin has verified that Mercy Maria Scales was married prior to Enos to a Marshall, and to Samuel Webster. Alice also mentions that she was the second wife of Enos. Enos and Maria were married in 1822 by James Ewing, Esq. Maria Scales had 5 children with Enos. Enos first wife was Rachel VanSant(d.1830). They were married on September 9, 1808 and together had 8 children. After the death of Enos, Alice states that Maria was left a young widow with small children and "very little money" "When her son Stephen was young he was "bound out" (indentured servant)." If you would like, I can provide you with a copy of these letters (which included a tree of sort) along with information provided in an email from another Margerum cousin. Let me know.
