Wm/John/Henry Nixon b. Eng 1700>VA>TN>MS
Now, to give you a short rundown on my family beginning at
Bew Castle, Great Orton, Cumberland, England. Three boys,
William, Christened 22 Jan 1699, John, Christened 21 Sep 1701,
Henry, Christened 1703. I have no record of girls in this
family. Family history said all three boys came to America,
I have found only Henry, my Gr,Gr Gr Grandfather, Who ,
reported by a letter written by my Great grandfather, landed
on the Virginia seashore in 1725, married Sarah Sanderson and settled in
Orange County, VA. His family was three boys,
William Henry and John, my line, and three girls, Elizabeth,
Ann and Martha, who married three Scott brothers. John
married (John Bently) Elizabeth Gaden and moved to Camden,
SC, had Eight Children, Travis, John, William, Tapley and
George Henry. John Jr, my line, married Elizabeth Craig )
Cragg) and moved to TN and settled in Maury Co.They Raised
13 children, Nancy, Martha, William, Thomas C, John, George,
Henry E., Elizabeth, Canty J., Lollie, Wesley, Hannah and
Jane. Thomas C. was my Gr Grandfather, became a Methodist
Circuit rider and Preacher, as was his father. Thomas went
to Mississippi, married Elizabeth Rawls, Settled at Utica,
MS, Hinds CO. They raised 11 Children, John Columbus, Eliza
Ann, Jabez Henry, Beatina, Sarah Ann, Thomas Canty, ( my
Grandfather) Mary Elizabeth, Wesley Rawls, George Daughtery,
Julie Virginia and Martha Jane. My Grandfather, Thomas Canty, married
Martha Robertson after the Civil War, and lived at
Cayuga on the Natches Trace, near Utica. They had 8 children,
Eliza who died at age 2, Thomas Mpmroe who died at 12 years, Miriam,
Elam Wesley, (my father) Mary Elizabeth, Pattie S.,
Walter Cleveland and Thomas Canty. My father married Lillie
Belle Magee, at Hobart, OK, and they raised 4 children, Cleo Orville,
Milton Elam, Willie Edison and Thomas Canta. Canta
is the Spanish spelling of Canty. I was Born at Mercedes TX.
My wife, Shirley and I have been married 58 years, no
children but a host of nieces and nephews, some natural but
most have adopted us, Ha, we love all of them.This has been a long story but who knows where or who can
tie into this line.As I have said before, I have many other decendants
of this line. I have a copy of the book "The
early Nixon's of Texas, settled at what is now Nixon TX,
near San Antonia, they came from Irland around 1700. Dr
Patrick Irland Nixon lives at San Antonia.The early names
of that group were mostly bibical.Hey ,I think I have
rambled enough for this time, the old Gen. Bug realy works
