Charles:The name Pettit caught my attention in your message.Have you traced Isabella Pettit to any extent? As you may know from my posting re: George Nixon of Bedford, PA, two of his children married Pettit siblings (William m. Mary Pettit and Rosanna m. Alexander Pettit), indicating that there may be an old connection between these families.Do you suppose that the father of your Thomas Nixon (b. 1766) could have been a brother or cousin of my George Nixon of Bedford? Most of the Nixon's in Washington Co, PA, appear to be of the New Jersey branch of the family. As for Westmoreland Co, PA, the only one of my Nixons to settle there was George Jr., who had land in Derry Twp and in one or two other townships of Westmoreland from about 1794 onwards.
