Walter Nixon, III 9/13/06
Dear Walter,
How kind of you to respond to my posting.I have had a really hard time trying to trace my Nixon ancestry.I have very little information on Samuel Nixon, b. 1790 in NC, married to a Delaney (not sure if a first or last name), b. 1797 in NC. Samuel and Delaney are listed in the 1850 Census for Barbour Co., AL. Listed also at this time William Nixon, my ggGrandf. These Nixons left Alabama about 1866 and moved to Panola Co., MS.There are two other Nixons I cannot trace also. One is a Rebecca Nixon, 1827-1892 (b. in GA) and married Jonathan Wilkins (1819-1890)in Barbour Co., AL.They lived in Wayne Co., MS and are buried in Angelina Co., Texas. The other Nixon is Sarah Nixon, b. about 1834 in GA and Married Andrew Jackson Smith,b. about 1827 in AL.They moved to Jasper County, MS and are buried there. We think she could be a sister to my ggGranf, Willim but are not at all sure.Since you are from MS, I will mention that my Grandfather, Henry Levi Nixon, had a brother, Calvin Greenberry Nixon, who lived in Jones Co., MS.His dates, 8/27/1857-6/9/1933.I hope this is not too piecemeal for you.I just wondered if you would see any connections with my family.I am originally from Panola Co., MS and now live in VA.Thank you.
Samuel Anthony Nixon
