WALTER NIX 94 SUCCUMBS
Commanche - Walter Curtis Nix, 94, died in a Commanche hospital Sunday night following a long illness.
Nix, born May 6, 1870 in Moonville, Miss., came to Comanche in 1937 from Marlow.He was married to Mary D. Janeo Aug. 24, 1931 at Cheyenne, Okla.He was a farmer until 1942 when he retired.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Commanche Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Merle Yates officiating.Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Morehead-Elsey Funeral Home.
Nix is survived by five sons:
Charlie of Long Beach, Calif.;Chesley of Fullerton, Calif.; Leamon of Farmington, New Mexico,; Jim Janoe and Frank Janeo both of Commanche; 10 daughters , Mrs Leenan Woods, Mrs. Hazel Harvey and Mrs Ilene Strasser, all of Buino Park, Calif.
Mrs, Golda Russell, Anaheim Calif,; Mrs. Willie Klingler, San Jose, Calif,; Mrs. Flora Nix, Fullerton, Calif,; Mrs. Jewel Pinkey, and Mrs. Hazel Richardson, both of Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Gladys McGaughy, Corpus Christi and Mrs. Ora Lee Lloyd, Commanch:
Two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Wright and Mrs. Dessie Taylor, both of Hugo, 43 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and on great-great-grandson.
Bearers will be Jewel Hunter, John Brock, Dewey Richards, Chuck Wilson, Eddie Gilmore and Mike Hensley.
