I have been searching for this family for several years,I am quite sure that I can give you his parents and grandparents, but cannot help with his descendants. His Father is Thomas Alexander NIX, b 27 July 1830 in Pickens District South Carolina, His mother is Elizabeth Gassaway, b abt 1834 in South Carolina. His Grandfather is Jennings Nix, b 1803 in Georgia, and his Grandmother is Lucinda (Letty) Alexander, b abt 1803 in Pickens District ,South Carolina. His other Grandparents are William W. Gassaway, and Cosly (Cosby) Curtis, also of Pickens District.Thomas Alexander and Elizabeth apparently moved to Blount County, Alabama with his extended family in 1851-2. Elizabeth's Mother apparently died about 1850 and William may have married a second time.I have found Him living next door to Thomas and Elizabeth in the 1860 census in the Western Division of Blount County Alabama.I have also located land records where William W, Gassaway purchased 120 acres about half way between Altoona and Walnut Grove in present day Etowah County. Ihave also found some land records where Thomas Nix (or Nicks) purchased land in Arkansas but have not been able to convince myself that I have the correct Thomas. I have additional details about many Jennings NIX descendantsand would love to add the descendants of Thomas and Elizabeth to my list. Please contact me and we can share details.
