Any one with any knowledge of history would realize how wrong most of the names on that file are. The one that really amuses me is Lorraine Williams. A name like that simply would not have existed at that time. I'm reminded of a story by the eminent British genealogist L.G. Pine, former editor of Burke's Peerage, who said someone wrote asking for info on William the Conqueror's mother Charlotte Skinner. First of all, the very idea that a name like that even existed in a time when most people didn't have surnames is laughable. You no doubt know that the Conqueror's mother was named Harlette & was the daughter of a tanner which makes the name confusion doubly entertaining.
Humor aside, this sort of misinformation does such a disservice to those who are involved in serious research. Well, I hope that we can find some more creditable info on the Nixes.
By the way, I am descended from William B. Nix, b. 1790 in SC & d. 1859 in Pickens Co. I do not yet know for sure who his parents were, but I think he may be the son of Valentine Nix Sr. who, according to info I have, had a son named William.
My line follows:
William B. Nix & Rebecca Murphree
Eleanor Nix & Asa Patterson
Joseph Benson Patterson & Lucinda Chappell
Louie Albert Patterson & Clovie Pauline Reeves
Anna Bell Patterson & Robert Edward Jackson
myself
Regards,
Mike Jackson
