HI, sorry that didn't help much. I got out my notes and will jot down some here. It is possible that James was the son of William and Sarah Postey, at one point I deducted that or found a record, not sure.
Madison twsp Middlesex co formed from So amboy twsp 1869, Marriage records of Cheesequake 1798-1835 by Rev,. John Fountain. Variety of Nivison marriages, one of interest is 1818 Jan 22 James Niverson and Lucy Lawyer.witnesses Mrs. John Smith and Mary Smith.

Sarah Nivison will wb Vol d pg 465 august 10,1837 son Jacob P. son William, Dau Sarah Ann Willet (her dau Minerva and son Jasper) son James, dau Eleanor Emons, Wit: Elias Sickels, Hendrick Sickles, John Holsart proved 1-24-1844.
I did make a note that the following may be lineage.
First in family John or William Nivison from scotland or england. Son John Nivison Senior married Hannah Tilton or Beers. Son William ca 1764-1814 married Sarah Postey 7-28-1793 Children,1. Jacob P d 1852 md Sarah Ogborne d 1879, 2.William, 3.sarah Ann md ? Willet,4. James md Lucy Lawyer 1-22-1818 children Jacob, James, md Pheobe, children Charles b3-22-1852 and Edward T. 7-31-1848 md Adelia McChesney,and Thomas 5.Eleanor md ? Emons,6. Aaron Md Jane Postey, 2-25-1805.
I hope this will give you some clues.Some info is suposition based on years of searching and notes here and there. I still have more books of notes.see if any of this fits. Barbara
