My father Kenneth Niven, sadly no longer with us, was born in the flat above one of the Niven butcher's shops in Church Street, St Andrews.
I'm ashamed to say I know very little of the family tree. I know my grandfather, known as 'Pop' was a real character in the city and used to race cars on the West Sands. My dad's sister may be of more help...her name is Fiona Topping and she lives in Mount Melville Crescent, Strathkinness which is just outside St Andrews.
I do have a couple of great old photos showing the outside of the butchers shop in St Andrews. I know my father did, at some point, take a keen interest in the family tree and I will check to see if there are any documents remaining. Sorry I couldn't be of any more help.
