My Nissens came from Seewang, Sch. Hol. and when I visited the family there in 1998, they told me that we were Fresians, not Danes. In fact my 2nd cousin there works for the Fresian Dept of the gov. of Germany. It seems that they came up from Belgium/Holland in the 900's and began building dikes and canals and reclaiming the seabed. I have a lot of information on this family of Nissens, which includes, Carstensens, Lorenzens, Petersens who lived in and around Stedesand, Bullsbull, Seewang and Achtrup. I would like to share it with anyone else who is Fresian. Jean Wade
