The 1880 census, Maquoketa, shows the household of Henry Smith, 47, born NY, wife Elizabeth C. Smith, 45, born NY; dau Mary Smith 22, born Iowa, and Betsey Nims, widow, 78, born NY. Who was Betsey Nims? I know who Henry Smith was—a son of Timothy Smith and Rachel (--). This Smith line goes back to [now] Warren Co., NY, early 1700s. Timothy & Rachel are buried Mt. Hope cemetery.
