Stark County Ohio Nimons/Neimans
Posted by: Harry Nimon Date: February 07, 2002 at 07:00:25
  of 37

John Nimon married Edna May Spoon circa 1917 and lived just outside of East Canton, Ohio. John had two brothers, Mac and Marion (who lived near Toledo, Ohio). Here is the history as our family Bible records it...

Two Neiman brothers settled in southern Ohio in the early 1800's, building a water-powered flour mill still in operation as a historical site today. Edward Neiman, the Grandson of one of these brothers moved to Osnaberg, Ohio (East Canton) and settled on what is now named Neiman Road off of Rt. 30 five miles east of this town. He married Mary Mong who gave birth to the three brothers. The Neiman name was legally changed to Nimon around 1870. John Henry Nimon, their son, met and married Edna May Spoon on February 2nd, 1917 upon returning from a stint with the military in Arizona as a scout. All of these brothers lived into their 90's.

John and Edna had the following children: John II, Charles, Adrin, Harry, Jim and Mary. All but Harry and Mary have passed. Harry Nimon Sr. now lives in Houston, TX near his son, Harry, Jr. Mary (Nimon) Reed and her family remain in the Canton area.

Harry Nimon Jr. is a retired Army Officer with four children; three daughters and one son.
