This request is a long shot, but I have had no luck in finding the family of William Nimmons, born (supposedly) in Edgefield Co, SC in 1799. He was an orphan according to family tradition. Since I cannot find a family in the census to match him up with and since family tradition claims he had no family, I have begun to suspect that he might have been illegitimate.

William shows up in Jackson Co, GA in the mid 1820's when he marries Susannah Potts. They live briefly in DeKalb Co., GA, then move to the newly opened Coweta County, GA where he prospers until his death in 1852.

His oldest son's name might provide a clue--Orman Thomas Mortimer, but so far I have not found families with those names.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
