Here is your answer:
the surname traces it's roots to the latin word "nemo" meaning "no-one" or "no-body",and was a nickname for one whose parentage was obscure or was found abandoned. The nickname frequently came to be used as a forename for such a one, thus the present surname Nimmo may indicateeither "the abandoned one", "son of the abondoned one" or "son of Nemo"
