Anna (Nilson) Flodin Vater, 80, of Newington, died on Sunday, (January 8, 2006). She was the beloved wife of the late Steig Flodin and Alfred Vater. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Anton and Ruth Nilson, she was a Newington resident for 50 years. Mrs. Vater retired from Aetna after many years of employment and was a longtime member of the Valhalla Swedish Club of West Hartford. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves four children, daughters Carol Schmitt of Margate, FL, and Susan Pappaceno and her husband Frederick of Newington, son Raymond Flodin of Pompano Beach, FL, and daughter Lisa Leitao and her husband Donald of Unionville; 11 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother Harry Nilson of West Hartford; two sisters, Hilma Loomis of Windsor and Elizabeth Fulton of Mashpee, MA; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister Ruth Filteau and a brother Anton Nilson. Her funeral service and burial will be private.
