Caleb 6 (Caleb 5, Eb 4-3, Nathl 2, John1 )Niles was born in RI and went to Maine c1778 with his father's family. He married Hannah (last name unk) and about 1816 or so moved to Otsego Co NY. The names of their children were recorded in the VRs for Litchfield ME [Litchfield ME VRs; FHL microfilm 11,329]. There may have been other unrecorded children in Maine or later in NY.

It has been said Caleb left Maine c1813 and was the person who witnessed the will on 21 Dec 1813 of Moses Ostrander of Cooperstown NY. This appears doubtful as he paid off a mortgage 20 Apr 1816 on Lot 12 at Litchfield ME [Lincoln Co Land Records, Vol 94, 1816]. Another researcher has suggested the Caleb who witnessed the will may have been Wm 6's son Caleb who may have been residing in Otsego for a while from Thurman Warren Co NY.
The above list of children's name may be of help to researchers of Niles families of Otsego Co. Caleb's wife Hannah died at Otsego 29 Dec 1854, ae 82.
