Couple of additional notes:
1. Geo Anson Niles was counted in the 1880 USC (Killingly CT)with wife Dolly. He gives his father's place of birth as CT and mother's as RI.This suggests that the wife of Nathl Sweet Niles was not his mother. Nathl's wife Lucy was born at Hampton CT. As posted previously, Geo's parents may have been Ephraim and Esther (Cornell) Niles of Savannah, GA, and the same couple who married in RI where Esther was born. At this point though, there is no hard proof that Ephraim was a brother of Nathaniel Sweet Niles or where either one was born. The evidence only suggests that the children Nathl was caring for were not by his wife Lucy.
2. Nathaniel Sweet and Lucy (Holt) Niles' had a son Nathaniel Niles. He may have been the Nathaniel H Nilescounted in 1830 at Groton, CT. And by 1850 at New London, CT with wife Martha __. The 1870 USC is the last census in which they were counted. Confusingly the 1850 USC at New London CT lists him as Nathaniel "S" Niles whereas in the 1860 its an "H".No middle initial in 1870. Did he picked a middle initial for himself to avoid confusion with the other Nathaniel Nileses afoot in CT?
