Janet,
Looking for my link to Florence Nightingale in 1990 I was sent a photocopy of an inside cover of a Bible belonging to Ann Nightingale - "December 6 1800 Elstree Middelsix" (as written). Inside the Bible were listed the children of Ann & William Potten. His ancestor was Charles Potten (the 5th child) born 1810. Unfortunately he couldn't verify the parents of Ann but was told they were John Nightingale and Ann Troy, married at Elstree in 1770. I can fax you all he sent to me and the name and address of the contact.

I'm trying to establish a link to Florence Nightingale through a William Simpson married to Eiche (Eyche or Eichelle) Le Grand Nightingale in 1806. My great-aunt (a Simpson) knew Florence well and said she was part of the family but she died at age 94 when I was quite small.

I live in New Zealand too so understand your research problems well. My Fax: 00 64 7 8234297.

Look forward to hearing from you

Gill Milton
