I am a 27 year old female. My mom who raised me is African American. My dad who is still living, but do not speak with is Nigerian. I don't know much about my father's history. I now have a son of my own, and I want to teach him his heritage. What I do know is that my father changed his name somewhat from Semme Shommorins(no sure of the spelling, but sounds like "shammorens")to Simms Simmorins. He came here from Lagos, Nigeria and said that his family owned horses or a race track. These accounts come from information my mother told me. My middle name comes from my aunt , Bose. He came here to go to college in Baltimore, Maryland where we live. He went to Loyola College. He came from a fairly large family with some living in London and a sister that lived in Colorado, I think. Please help me find my family somehow. Even if the name sounds like a family you used to know living down the street. I would greatly appreciate your help in bridging the gaps of the diaspora.
