Hello to all Nieves' out there.
I'm trying at the difficult task of tracing my
family line straight through the Nieves' to see
how far back I can get. I've found family lines
crossing more than once.
I've gotten as far as the mid to late 1800's with
the name of Juana Nieves mother of Martin Nieves-Hernandez
She would be my great-great-grandmother. I have
very little details about her. She was with a Mr
Damian Hernandez but never married.
She lived in Ponce and was the sister of an
Alfonso Nieves also from Ponce of whom I did get
some info since many of them still live in Ponce.
This is another line of Nieves' and my father
Martin Nieves Arroyo who also lives in Ponce has
met a few of them.
Aparently there is another Martin Nieves in town
but they have never met. Alfonso Nieves was the
father of Tomasa and Pedro Nieves. Tomasa married
her own cousing Martin Nieves Hernandez (my great
grandfather) and beared a daughter names
Juana Nieves Nieves. Pedro Nieves had 3 sons that
we know of named Mencho, Juan, and Martin Nieves.
Back in my side of the Nieves' my great-grandfather
Martin Nieves Hernandez married a 2nd time to a
Luz Maria Arroyo Garcia and beared 3 sons;
Victoriano (who died at age 11), Carmelo (who died
in 1994), and Felipe Nieves Arroyo (my grandfather
who died April 11, 1993)
I am trying to get beyond Juana and Alfonso Nieves
into the 1800's. If anyone recognizes these names
or has these names in the family tree please e-mail
