My mother, Ruth Niemi, is the daughter of Maymee and Christian Niemi. She also has a brother, Donald, and two sisters, Helen and Lempi. They resided near Minneapolis until Maymee died in 1941, then Christian relocated the family to Detroit, MI. Christian was an only son. His father, whose name I do not yet know, was killed by a bull on a farm in Minnesota. Christian had two older sisters. He left the family home when he was 14. Helen still lives in Minnesota, Ruth is in Michigan, Lempi has passed away, and Donald lives in California. I am just getting started in trying to find out more about my Finnish heritage. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
