I'm stunned to be posting this a year after your original post. Schneidlingen lies north of Aschersleben, roughly between Egeln and Cochstedt. Nearby small villages would include Gross Boernecke and Jakobsgrube. I looked them up in a modern German Road Atlas.

The Protestant (Evangelical - Lutheran) church records for Schneidlingen exist and have been filmed for the period 1809 - 1874. You may view these records at your local Family History Center. Look in your phone book under Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

A second set of records (some that I am unfamiliar with) are population records, which are available for 1839 - 1907. Either of these records may take you back a couple of generations, conservatively.

For Egeln the Jewish, Catholic and Protestant church records have been filmed. Catholic records go back to 1678! Nothing for the little villages.

German genealogical word list and research guide are available at the FHC for a total of less than a couple of bucks and are obvious bargains.

I hope this helps.

Tom Severn
