I'm sorry that I do not have more information for you. I am just beginning a search on my maiden name, which is Nidick. My family dates back to 1849, some of original California 49's that came out west in search of a better future, and their fortune. Ancestors of mine date back to the illfated Hopewell in the 1600's, one of the first ships to come over from England, before the Mayflower. Their first trip they had to turn back, but a second trip proved successful. I do not know if there was a Nidick on board yet.
How did you trace the name back to Germany. My father has tried to find its orgin for some time and thought it was scottish. Please let me know what you have found. Thanks,
