After posting the above inquiry, I was searching the Canadian genweb and found the surprising answer to my query.Her father was the famous Jean Nicolet who was born in 1598 and whose exploits were found in the mid 1800s in Jesuit writings which described him as having travelled in a large canoe through the straits of Mackinac into Lake Michigan and visited Indians at Green Bay and so forth.He died in 1642 when his ship overturned in a storn on the St. Lawrence River.Robert T.
