Searching Nicola / NICOLAR Native Americans of Maine 1780's
Searching for connections to my own Native American family who may have come into Maine from Quebec, Canada or New Brunswick, Canada in the 1700's or early 1800's.
I am searching all common Native American names in Maine and Nicola with variant spellings of Nicolar and Nicolas etc. are found there among the Penobscot tribe and others in the Houlton / Eastport area of Maine.
The surnames I am searching which may have ties to this family are JOSEPH (Sozep/Susep etc.) / THOMAS (Toma / Tomah) and MOODY (which was a name taken on by my relatives and most likely Not their birth surname until later in the 1820's, 30's etc in Cumberland Co., Maine).
Thank you for any info if you have ever seen these names associated with the Nicolar family of Native American decent Please leave a reply here and I will find it.
Thank you vor your help
