I have a history of the Nicola family with some information that was taken from the family record in an old German Bible. An article from the Advent Review and Sabbath Herald in January 1929 about Jacob Nicola (born in France) says in part "He was a direct descendant of the Huguenots and his forbears were driven out of France by sore persecution in the seventeenth century, following the Revolution of the Edict of Nantes".
That is the only information we have of the Nicola family origin, prior to arriving in the U.S.
Hope this is helpful for all!
