Sorry to be so long in replying, but my computer has been in the shop ! I do not have much on Helen - her father was the fourth generation of George's in the Nicol tree. ( I have those and their children if you don't have and want them.) That is as far back as I can go on William's family and Helen was one of nine children born to George ( born Sep 20,1834 to George and Helen (Horne) Nicol & Christened Oct 5, 1834 in Forgue Aberdeen Scotland died Mar 12, 1914 in Scotland ) married Jesse Janet Hay ( daughter of James Hay and Elspet( Morison ) Hay Jan 28,1853. She was also born in Forgue, Aberdeen, Scotland Sep 21,1833 and died Oct 1, 1892 in Scotland. Siblings were George Christened Dec 17, 1854, James born Dec 18, 1856, Elspet b Mar 29, 1859, William Enna b Jan 27/28, 1861, & died in Assumption, IL Jan 1941 (Immigrated to America in 1882 with Margaret Grant ( daughter of James Grant & Margaret( Manson )Grant, b Feb 26, 1860 in Drumdollo, Aberdeen County, Scotland & they married Jun 28, 1884 in Taylorville, IL. She also died in Assumption, IL Aug 22, 1893 ), Robert b May 10, 1867, ( I believe came over with William in 1882 ) John b May 31, 1870,( Immigrated to America in 1885 ) & Margaret b Sep 20,1872, Helen and Peter ( no birth dates at this time, but there is time between 1856 & 1859 & another space between 1859 & 1861 or 1867 & 1870 ). They went back to Scotland about 10 years later for someone who did not come with them when they returned to America, but they did bring Willamena Nicol b Apr 8, 1883 in Scotland with them and adopted her, he also later adopted Jesse Margaret Nicol b Feb 1, 1905. However I have no mention of him bringing a Helen Nicol back also, so was not looking for that name, so I have no information on her in the states. However I am very familiar with Illinois, and still have family there. Decatur, IL is in Sangamon Co if my memory serves me right.., and now that I have her name I can look into her and the McCluskey name which sounds very familiar, but I have no facts yet. I can however give you more info on the Nicol side both further back and down to the near present. Hope some of this is helpful. If I can help further, let me know, and if I run across more - once I can get back into my family tree file and can research further I will let you know if I find something on the McCluskey side. I also have some photo’s, but only of the Nicol family as far as I know. People did not put any names on the photo’s then, and I sure wish they had.
Now I see from your email address you may be located in Alaska, if so I'm curious to know what part. You can contact me through here or at MNeely.@Netdirect.net
