Hi, Here is a line from George Nicol and Jessie (Jane) Hay:
Their daughter, Helen Nichol b. abt 1850 married Alexander Martin in Fife, Scotland in October 1872. He went to Ceylon to work on a tea plantation and died there, buried in the English cemetery there about 1875-1890. (She remarried a James Sandison in Scotland and had 6 more kids).
Alexander and Jessie's daughter, Mary Ann Martin b. 15 March 1875 in Montrose, Scotland came to Assumption, Illinois about 1892 with her uncle Will Nicol. He may have been there visiting since he already lived in Assumption Illinois. They may have taken different boats, the Ellis Island site is so frustrating!!!
Anyway, She married John William "Willie" or (Honest Will) McCluskey in Sept 1898 in Sangamon County Illinois. They moved to Arizona with their son, thomas Frank McCluskey, b. 1900.
I'm looking for more information on Helen Nicol or Alexander Martin. Also, any information about McCluskey's in Assumption Illinois. I have photos which I can email if it would help anyone.
Thanks. Marlene McCluskey rmc2@aptalaska.net
