Thank you Jennifer!! I was wondering what the W was stood for. Thomas W. Nichols was married to Laura J. Bond. they were married dec 1856 in Abbeville, south carolina. I found resources that support this. you have her parents wrong. I can also support his through the census. Her parents were Israel Bond from New Jersey and Mary Ann Walton from Wake, North Carolina. Israel Bond was married to Katruah Martin also from New Jersey. At some point, Israel moved to Wake, NC. where he met Mary Ann Walton. Laura also had a brother named Israel bond, jr. who also had a wife named Mary E. and they had a son whom they named Israel H. (can be confusing) I have more information on them; I also have her other brother & sisters names. Laura died in Mar 1920. She was a widow. I have followed both Laura & Thomas from 1850 , 1860, 1870 and 1880. I found Laura living with her son James Allen nickels, sr. living in columbia south carolina in the 1920 census which was done in Jan of that year. They had 5 children: Mary 1859 Robert W James Allen 1875 he is buried in Elmwood cemetery, Columbia south carolina. I took pictures there. Anna Lee Lewis W 1877 I would love to have any family history on Thomas that you have. Do you kow anyone who could possibly have pictures of any of the Nickels from recent to back. I am the granddaughter of James Allen Nickels, jr. He married Vera Elzabeth Hall in Abbeville, SC. (buried at long cane cemetery in Abbeville under the name vera hall hannah)I have pictures of this as well. Also the house that she grew up in. she died feb 1940. she divorced James mar 1938 I have more information if you would like it. Again, thank you so much for the nformation that you just sent.
