Wm. C Nickles was at the estate sale of James Nickles in Laurens Co.SC in 1837. William was the son-in-law of John Wood, one of the appraisers. Others at the sale were John B. Simpson, Richard Sims, Alex. Nichols, Eliz. Nichols etc. John Wood and wife, Lucy Golding, Wm. C. Nichols and Richard Sims came to Lowndes Co., MS around 1846. I would like to know the parents of Wm. C. Nickles.
As additional information, I understand that Nathaniel Nickles and three brothers: William, James and Chartis, came from Belfast, Ireland c. 1750. Nathaniel's will of 1804 does not mention his wife, but he does mention a siter-in-law, Elizabeth Caldwell. He names his children, including James and Charter. James and Charter are also named as executors and I assume these are his sons rather than his brothers of the same name. Thomas Nickles appraised Nathaniel's estate.
John Nickles died in 1836 (estate appraised by Richard Sims (see above) and Jonathan Reed. Is this the brother of Nathaniel or his son? At the estate sale were John F. Nickles, Anthony Golding, Eliz. N. Nickles, R.F. Golding, Robert Nickles (son of Nathaniel?), Libby Nickles, Lewis Ball (Baptist preacher who came to Pontotoc Co., MS), Richard Golding and H. M. Nickles.
Richard Beasley's will of 3/22/1836 mentions dau. Nancy Nichols.
I am primarily interested in learning the parents of William C. Nickles, who came to Lowndes County, but clarification of any of the others in question would also be appreciated.
