Thanks for getting in touch, that's great.

I recently worked out that my surname should not have been Pyke but Pritchard, a Welsh name as in ap.Richard. My grandfather got his mother's surname.

I subsequently made a connection with the Pritchards. We have a 66/67 match.

You are right we are probably looking back to the 15th century. I have not found an immediate Pritchard who has emigrated.

I know that we can pretty much forget tracing by name but the name Pritchard crops up in the Nickerson tree. Jane Pritchard Nickerson is one and there's another somewhere.

Yes, I think the common link is William before he sailed or even with the family that he left behind. It's a way back but I think it's less than 20 gen's.
