I can see your dilemna in researching this Anna Nickerson.
I went to the Nickerson books and found that they were not even certain about the descs. of the Nickersons living in the Danbury area.
The following information I am about to give to you is probable, but it may be a jumping off point from which you can find the answers:
1] Did you know that Jesse Peck who md. Anna Nickerson had a brother and sister who also md. Nickersons??....Jesse's brother, Benjamin, md. an Elizabeth Nickerson (b. ca 1765)(see below); and his sister, Lois, md. an Israel Nickerson (b. ca 1759). I took that info, and found the following in the Nickerson books:
Vol. 1, p. 58- JAMES NICKERSON (William, William, William the immigrant) was b. about 1704 at Chatham, Mass; son of Ens. William and Deliverance (Lombard) Nickerson; his death date not known, his estate was settled 5 Dec 1757 at Danbury, CT. He md. DORCAS COVELL, b. 1714 at Chatham; dau of Joseph and Hannah (Bassett) Covell; died 1803, "ae more than 90 years" at Ridgefield, CT......the family moved to Ridgefield in 1747.
James and Dorcas had, among other children, William Nickerson, b. about 1736 Chatham, MA; resided Oblong, NY (which bordered CT). William, as the book says (pg. 144), "is probably the William listed in the 1790 Census, Ridgefield, Conn, as head of a family of 1 male over 16, 1 male under 16, and 2 females. We have not been able to uncover records of his marriage."
It goes on to say, "Child (of William above)" Elizabeth possibly, who married Benjamin Peck, 10 June 1783. She was living in Ridgefield and we found no connection to another Nickerson family."
Now, Jo,it's entirely possible that Anna was Elizabeth's sister...however, the book cannot confirm this. I would imagine, though, since the Nickerson books don't have a lot of info for William (son of James who went to CT), William could very well be Anna's father also.
