Hello Gloria-

I don't find Charles S. in the Nickerson books; his line is too late for these books.

I did, however, look at the censuses for leads. Because of the brevity of your posting, you may not have this info below, but if you do, then excuse my duplicating it.

In the 1900 Gardiner, Kennebec, ME census, Charles S. Nickerson (b. 1861 MA, Clergyman) lives with his wife, Julie D. (b. June 1859 MA - says she has 3 children with 3 living). The children here are George P., b. 1890 MA; Frances, b. Sep 1892 VT? MA?; Charlotte W., b. Oct 1895 MA.

Charles S. has died before 1910, as in the 1910 Amherst, Hampshire, MA census, Julia D., age 50, is now a widow. Children: Geo P., 20, b. MA; Frances L, 17, b. MA; and, Charlotte W., 14, b. MA.

In the 1920 Chicago, Cook C., Ill census, there is a listing for Weaver Morris, age 32, b. Ill, occup: Bldg. construction, and his wife, Frances, age 27, b. VT(?). There are no children here.

In 1930, I find no match for either Morris parent (both dead??), but do find 3 children orphaned and living in the Roman Catholic Orphanage in Alton, Madison Co., Illinois: John Richard Morris, age 6 (b. ca 1924 IL); Robert Morris, age 5 (b. ca 1925 IL); and, William Morris, age 8 (b. ca 1922 IL). I don't find a fourth child here.

If these Morris children are, in fact, the children of Frances and JW Morris, you may be able to get records from the Orphange either online or thru the mail as to where they may have been placed after being orphaned.

As far as when Frances (and her husband) died, there may be a death notice in one of the Illinois papers. That info could be online if you do a search, or you may be able to contact one of the newspapers there directly. The orphanage could also have that info.

Before you do any searching on your own, however, contact the Nickerson Assoc at:

www.nickersonassoc.org

They may already have all this information in their files which they can give to you now.

Good luck with the search!
Regards, Kathy - Long Island, NY
