Charles Robert Nickell and Lela Frances Honaker

I am trying to trace the lineage for my husband on his father's side of the family. Most of my husband's father family comes from West Virginia, but the Nickells may have originated from Kentucky. His father's name was James Harold (some places may spell as Herald) Nickell, and his father was Charles Robert Nickell, born in Fincastle, (Lee County)KY, on 01/23/1891, and understand his father was Anderson Nickell. Anderson Nickell married Mary Jane Spenser (not sure of spelling). I can find an 1870 Census where Anderson Nickell is residing in the Rose household in KY. Believe he is related to Sarah Nickell.

Charles Robert Nickell married Lela Frances Honaker (born 11/23/1896 or 1897). Her parent's names were James H. Honaker and Mary E. McClelland (maybe McClellon). Lela had a brother named Charles and his wife was named Beulah. Could have had a brother named James W. Honaker who died in France during WWI in 1918.

Charles and Lela had 6 children: Charles Wanda Nickell, Genevieve Easter Nickell Lehman, Geraldine Nickell Westfall, Virginia Margaret Nickell Bourne, James Harold Nickell, and Carmen Nickell. The only surviving children of Charles and Lela are Genevieve and Margaret.

We live in South Carolina, but make trips to WVA about 2-3 times a year. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Temple Hanna Nickell
