The following described real estate standing in the name of A.G. Grinonan was reported to the Clerk of the County Court of Madison County by the Treasurer of Madison County as delinquent on account of State taxes for the year, whereas on the 25th of March 1897 after due advertisement as required by law, the Treasurer of Madison County did offer for sale at public auction at the front of the court-house of Madison County, the following described real estate for the purpose of paying the State taxes due thereon, at which sale Aaron Nicholson became the purchaser, having bid $2 14/100, that being the highest price bid therefore; and whereas, in pursuance of the order of the County Clerk of Madison County entered on the 31st day of July 1899, the report of the Surveyor of Madison County, specifying that metes and bounds of the following description of the land will identify the same, was recorded in the Clerk's office of Madison County; and, whereas, the whole of the purchase money having been fully paid, and the two years required by law having now elapsed, the said Aaron Nicholson desires to have a deed for the same:
Now, Therefore, This deed made this 2nd day of August 1900 between A. W. Crisler, Clerk of the County Court of Madison County, party of the first part, and Aaron Nicholson, party of the second part, witnessed. That in consideration of the premises and in pursuance of the act of the Legislature of Virginia, approved, as amended by act approved 26th day of February, 1894, the part of the first part doth grant unto the party of the second part, with special warranty, the following described real estate:
One hundred and Sixty Six acres of land lying in Madison County on the Blue Ridge on Hughes River.
