Old Nashville Female Academy Girls
The old Nashville Academy girls will meet today at the residence of Mrs. W. L. Nichol. In connection with this meeting the following list of pupils at the academy in 1823. handed in by a daughter of Mrs. James T. Holman, who as Miss Clementine Horton Boyd, attended the academy at the time, will be found interesting, especially to the older citizens of Nashville.

(Mrs. W. L. Nichol was the former Martha Johns, daughter of John Johns and Evalina A. B. Hopkins. She married first, J. D. B. DeBow, editor of DeBow’s Review; and her second marriage was to Dr. William Lytle Nichol. recognized as one of the best diagnosticians in the country. Although not listed on the above list, Martha Johns was educated by the noted Southern educator, D. C. Elliott at the Old Nashville Female Academy.
